Facility Synopsis
The Project
The approximate 10 acre site is accessed via 51st Street through the reservoir recreation area. There are three main features of the new fire training center: the classroom building, training tower, and burn building.

Other components of this training center include:
- A pump test area where the water pumps on fire trucks can be tested annually.
- Vehicle extrication areas for fire crews to practice removing simulated victims from wrecked, damaged automobiles.
- A car fire simulator that is propane fired where crews practice proper techniques to extinguish burning vehicles.
Burn Building
The burn building is used to simulate fire attack, search and rescue, smoke ventilation, and a variety of other fire fighting skills. Clean wooden pallets are burned to create just enough fire and smoke for training.

Classroom Building
The classroom building holds two classrooms, offices for the training staff, restroom and locker room facilities, and a large apparatus bay that can be used for inside training space or for parking fire trucks inside during inclement weather while crew attend training sessions. Training support functions like laundry, breathing air refill, two conference rooms, and a kitchen area are also in this building.

Training Tower
The training tower is a five story building providing numerous props and training opportunities. Ladder training, high rise operations, rappelling, roof smoke ventilation and confined space rescue are some of the skills that can be practiced in this building.
